Third of the Hungarian vegetable and fruit production washed away by the weather
One-third of the domestic vegetable and fruit production destroyed due to the extraordinary weather conditions. According to the Prseident of FruitVeb, there are plants, where loss is 80 percent.
Compared to last year, the loss is about 30 percent, compared to the average of the last ten years loss is about 40-45 percent – said Szabó József, President of FruitVeb.
The President pointed out, that compared to last year losses for tomatoes and corn are around 30 percent, 40 percent for sour cherry, and 30 percent was the yield lost for peppers and cabbage – reports Világgazdaság Online.
