Controlled quality in cooperation between SGS and Corvinus University
Quality requirements that our partners have to meet are becoming more complex from day to day. To serve this demand, SGS Hungária Kft.’s consumer testing line offers a wide range of services and examinations to consumer good manufacturers, importers, exporters and retailers. Our services include product and label control, legal advisory and accredited laboratory examinations. We asked Dr László Abrankó (senior lecturer and head of laboratory at the Applied Chemistry Department of Corvinus University), within the framework of a joint project on CORA private label products, about the role and quality of vitamin products: ‘Healthy living is a complex issue, but a diet rich in vitamins should definitely form part of it. The effects of improper diet can be mitigated with dietary supplements and one of the most important steps in the certification process of these is whether they contain the adequate amount of ingredients, as it is indicated on the label. In our laboratory we tested products in the Cora Harmony Multivitamin range (manufactured by Tutti Kft.) for their B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B9 vitamin content and found that there was at least as much of them in the products as indicated on the labels. Besides quantity, it is also very important that the vitamins used as base material should come from a controlled source. The products must not contain many times more vitamin than recommended either, let alone contamination or components of dubious effect.’
