At the opening ceremony held in Sárazsadány, located about ten kilometers from Sárospatak, Nikoletta Keszthelyi, Deputy State Secretary for the Environment, emphasized that the transition to a circular economy and supporting the cause of environmental protection are of paramount importance to the government.

She added that several measures have already been taken to this end and that they are also supporting programs such as Tisztítsuk meg az aytárok or the Huladékradar application, which has become popular in the past five years.

The application received more than 74 thousand notifications, thanks to which the country was able to be cleaned of 500 thousand tons of waste

– she pointed out.

The Deputy Secretary of State also mentioned the Green Kindergarten Network program, school gardens and air quality programs introduced in recent years.

He also highlighted the TeSzedd! campaign, in which a total of 1,300 tons of waste were collected by 115,000 volunteers in the country.

He said that the government has also made several advances in environmental regulations, such as tightening the environmental sanction system or increasing waste management and environmental fines.

According to Nikoletta Keszthelyi, however, stricter legislation and action by environmental authorities are not enough; social cooperation and various programs are needed. The government supports such initiatives as widely as possible

– he emphasized.
