The asparagus season has started in Csongrád county
The asparagus season started in Csongrád county near Öttömös on Wednesday, and the harvest of the vegetables is expected to take place in the next ten weeks.
Kakas Béla (Fidesz-KDNP), chairman of the Csongrád County Assembly, said that with the intention to create tradition this year, the beginning of the asparagus season will be celebrated for the first time.
Vegetables provide a livelihood for many people in the region. The physiological effects of the consumption of asparagus are excellent, and while the bulk of the crop goes for export, it is becoming increasingly popular on the Hungarian markets as well – he added. (MTI)
