The deposit return system has started in Romania
The deposit fee system encouraging the return of plastic bottles, glass bottles and metal cans used for beverage packaging was officially launched in Romania on Thursday.
The Ministry of Environment held a press conference to present the operation of the system in the La Cocos department store in Bucharest, which was started as a family business and operated by Romanian investors. Following the introduction of the deposit return system (DSR), manufacturers and resellers in Romania will be obliged to collect and recycle bottles, bottles and metal cans with a capacity between 0.1 and 3 liters used for bottling water, soft drinks and spirits.
To this end, they can only market their products in Romania in bottles and boxes with the DSR logo and the codes required for redemption – even if they are manufactured abroad – the price of which will be 50 bani (38 forints) more. The customer will get this amount back in full if he returns the empty bottle, PET bottle or metal can at a collection point or throws it into a recycling machine.
