Event catering is a special segment of the hospitality sector, where often too much food is available and some of it ends up as waste. With the coordination of the Hungarian Food Bank Association, a project was started with the name ‘Food Is Value – Forum for reducing food waste’, within the framework of which a guidance was published for those who wish to cut down on food waste in the field of event catering. Those events that follow the guidance can use the ‘No Food Waste Event’ logo – informed Balázs Cseh, the president of the association. The guidance that contains the logo as well is available at www.azelelmiszerertek.hu. The organisers hope that by creating the forum, they have established a ‘set of norms’ that will be adopted by many market players. //
