Apricot and cherry flower buds frozen, still no expensive fruits
According to preliminary surveys, the dramatic cold over minus twenty degrees froze the earliest kind of apricot and cherry flower buds. However, if the majority of orchards in Europe get away without serious damage this year's winter, prices are not expected to go up significantly in Hungary in the summer. Jozsef Szabo of the Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organisation and Product Board (FruitVeB) said that the surveys carried out by Corvinus University show serious frost damage.
