Nestlé and SPAR’s latest attitude-shaping little boy is available
Households produce the most food waste in Hungary – this means an average of 65 kilograms of thrown away food every year. Unconscious consumer decisions not only make saving difficult, but also contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases responsible for climate change. Nestlé Hungária and SPAR Plan smartly! publication supports the development of environmentally conscious consumer habits with informative reviews and budget-friendly practical tips.
A total of about 1.8 million tons of food waste is produced in Hungary every year, and a family of four throws away about HUF 50,000 worth of unnecessarily purchased food in that time. A wasteful attitude makes the fight against hunger more difficult and increases greenhouse gas emissions by at least 10 percent, which could easily be avoided with a little care.
The joint publication of Nestlé Hungária and SPAR Hungary provides help for a sustainable diet and the prevention of food waste. Plan smartly! gives specific, useful tips on how to properly store food, how to increase its shelf life, how to shop with environmental considerations in mind, or how to properly collect waste. Thanks to the publication, readers can find out which vegetables and fruits are currently in season, what the markings on the packaging show, how long each product can be consumed after the expiration date, and which types of plastic can be recycled. In this way, they can become more aware of their consumer decisions, experiencing that they can save money and energy through environmental protection, and they can also support small producers active in the domestic agricultural sector.
