EU poultry meat imports rebound in Q1 2025
According to European Commission data, EU27 poultry meat exports rose by almost 1 percent to 520,000 tonnes between January and March 2025 compared to the same period last year.

The EU’s largest target countries were the United Kingdom and Ghana (a combined 44 percent share of exports). Exports to the former fell slightly, while poultry meat shipments to the latter increased by 45 percent. The EU’s poultry meat imports rose by 14 percent to 255,000 tonnes in the first three months of 2025 compared to the same period last year. Three-quarters of imports came from Brazil, Ukraine and the United Kingdom, with a total of 190,000 tonnes of poultry meat coming from the three countries, almost 13 percent more than the volume shipped between January and March 2024. According to European Commission data, the EU average price of a whole chicken was 287 euros/100 kilograms in the first twenty-six weeks of 2025, an 8 percent increase on the previous year.
