Live pig exports pick up, imports fall in Hungary
According to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, Hungary’s live pig exports increased by 6.7 percent to 35.4 thousand tons in January-November 2025 compared to the volume sold on the foreign market in the same period in 2024. The main partners were Romania, Moldova and Albania. Live pig imports fell by 25.6 percent to 42.7 thousand tons in the observed period.

The volume of pork sold on the international market decreased by 6.1 percent (143.6 thousand tons) and its value by 13.1 percent in January-November 2025 compared to the January-November 2024 period. The volume of pork imports decreased by 10.8 percent (117.2 thousand tons) and its value by 13 percent in the same period. According to AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of domestically produced slaughter pigs, excluding VAT and transport costs, was 720 forints/kilogram of carcass warm weight in 2025, a decrease of 11.4 percent compared to the average price a year earlier.
