Analysts: encouraging retail data for the first quarter GDP
Despite the slowdown in retail sales in March due to Easter, the first quarter indicator shows a pick-up in the last quarter of last year, which is an encouraging sign for GDP statistics to be released next Wednesday – market analysts commented thee most recent data of the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
According to the report of the Central Statistical Office (KSH), retail sales grew by 4.9 percent in March, compared to a year before. Calendar effect adjusted, the growth was 5.9 percent due to mainly due to Easter. In the first quarter, the volume of retail sales grew by 6.5 percent over the same period of last year. (MTI)
