Analysts expect a 3-4 percent average wage growth this year
Analysts polled by MTI expect a 3-4 percent average wage growth for this year, and since inflation is around 0 percent, real wages are expected to rise with the same extent of wage increases – the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) has pointed out that real wages are growing steadily for 32 months in Hungary.
According to the data published on Tuesday by the Central Statistical Office (KSH), average monthly earnings in August were 5.4 percent higher than in the same period of the previous year. Without counting the public workers the increase was 5.9 percent The growth was led by the public sector’s 8.1 percent increase in wages, while the regular premiums, bonuses and one-time benefits increased by almost three times since last August (grew by 199.8 percent), and this combination resulted in a 12.1 percent average rise in earnings, not counting the public workers.
