Food above inflation
The average rise in consumer prices was 0,5 per cent in April 2007, while price rises totalled 8,8 per cent for the previous year. According to a report by KSH, prices in the first four months of the year were 8,6 per cent higher on average than a year earlier. Food prices rose by 1 per cent compared to March. Seasonal prices grew by 7, 3 per cent , that of bread by 1,9 per cent but the prices of pork, sugar, salami, dried sausages and ham showed decline.
