Beer manufacturers are satisfied with the turnover in the first half of the year
The brewers are satisfied with the turnover of the first half of the year, although the sales in July were a little more restrained – said the director of the Hungarian Brewers’ Association at the Wednesday press conference of the Belvárosi Sörfesztivál in Budapest.
The data of the coming months will reveal whether there is another reason for the decrease in addition to the price increase – added the director, emphasizing that domestic consumption in the first half of the year reached the level of 2019.
At the same time, he believed that it is not certain that the turnover before the coronavirus epidemic will be achieved throughout the year.
Sándor Kántor called it regrettable that
the proportion of catering fell in sales, from 30 percent to 16 percent as a result of the epidemic,
and last year it only increased by 1-2 percentage points. Hospitality is slowly coming back to its senses, which is why events that promote beer not only as a product, but also create an atmosphere related to the consumption of draft beer are important
– he said.
The head of the interest representation called the development of domestic beer production explosive in recent years. He explained that fruit beers are particularly popular among the new products, and the non-alcoholic beer market seems to be the next promising area. In the West, their share of all sales is now 10 percent, and in Hungary they have also reached 8 percent, he said.
