Angéla Eke’s Sleeping Theater moved to IKEA for one evening
As part of IKEA’s new campaign, a special theater experience awaited the guests at the Örs vezér tér department store: the theater artist Angéla Eke’s performance entitled “Ssss…Sleeping Theater” could be watched from the beds after closing time. The event drew attention not only to the importance of sleep, rest and storytelling, but also to the social experience.
On the first of September, IKEA launched its long-term campaign for the 2025 financial year, with which it focuses on sleep. As part of the campaign, the Swedish furniture store chain organized an unusual event in the Örs vezér tér department store in collaboration with the artist Angéla Eke. The invited influencers were able to watch the theater performance Ssss…Salvószínház, presented last December, after closing time.
The project title refers to the stillness, calmness and comfort in which viewers can experience the production. The story was written by Angéla Eke based on the Fehérlófia fairy tale. In the drama in the form of free verse, the main character tells his story of growing up and becoming an everyday hero, in an environment mixed with contemporary and fairy-tale worlds, with which everyone, regardless of age group, can identify.
