Simplification and free of charge for drilled wells
It is still possible to operate the previously established wells that meet the reporting obligation free of charge – said Minister of Agriculture István Nagy.
The head of the department drew attention to the fact that the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to the expansion of responsible water management and irrigation management. For this purpose, the law on water management was also amended earlier. The new rules also facilitated the registration of wells for agricultural irrigation purposes and the water rights licensing procedure.
Instead of complicated administration, the notification must be made on a simplified data sheet if the water extraction is done exclusively from groundwater
The goal of the regulation was to solve the problem that has been worsening for years, which wells created without a permit pose to agriculture and the environment. An important condition is that the well is established in an area not affected by soil or groundwater pollution, without the use of karst or stratified water resources, and that its depth does not exceed 50 meters, and that it does not reach the first water-tight layer. It is also important that the well can only irrigate land cultivated by its operator, he added. István Nagy also touched on the fact that the reporting obligation can be done without penalty until December 31, 2023 at the National Land Center. The notification and the licensing procedure are exempt from the obligation to pay taxes and fees. Those who comply with this can continue to operate their wells free of charge – underlined the Minister of Agriculture.
