The EP voted beside a simpler agricultural policy
At the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, measures were adopted to simplify agricultural policy and to strengthen bargaining power for farmers in the supermarkets.
According to the European Parliament’s announcement, the changes in the common agricultural policy (coming) in 2018, laying down more solid positions in the supply chain, were adopted by 503 votes to 87, with 13 abstentions.
The new legislation allows recognized farmer organizations to negotiate supplier contracts on behalf of their members without violating European Union competition law rules. (MTI)
