More and more people can buy used laptops for environmental reasons
Every third of the laptops currently in use were either bought used or received as a gift, according to the data of a recent representative survey by Furbify, which deals with the renovation of computer equipment. This ratio may increase in the near future, as the majority of Hungarians are open to buying a second-hand laptop. The main reason for this is the price, but environmental protection aspects are also more important among those who are considering it now. Not to mention that a used laptop is not only cheaper, but can also be better than a new one.
Eight out of ten Hungarian households have at least one laptop
68 percent of Hungarians between the ages of 16 and 59 have at least one laptop; including approx. one in ten only uses a company laptop, and 12 percent of our compatriots use machines together with their family members – data from Furbify’s survey* show. Furbify is a catchy name, refurbish means to renew in English. Based on the research of the company dealing with the refurbishing of used computing devices, every third of the current laptops in Hungarian households were either bought used or received as a gift.
We choose consciously
The overwhelming majority of men browse online when they need a laptop. Women also prefer to research online, but much more take into account the recommendations of their friends and family members or go to a physical store for advice. All in all, three out of ten feel that they have to hold the laptop before buying it. The majority buys it in the specialty store, and only approx. one in four orders the selected machine online.
