Drought in California severely affects irrigation, and unpredictable monsoons in India make it more difficult to plan production. These climate changes affect not only producers, but also consumers, as prices of spices can fluctuate due to instability in the supply chain.
Sustainable farming can be a solution to the problems caused by climate change. American and Indian producers are trying to stabilize production with the help of drip irrigation, solar energy, organic farming and technological developments. Companies are also increasingly focusing on recyclable packaging and sustainable sources to respond to the environmentally conscious needs of consumers. In Hungary, the demand for premium quality spices is also increasing, and domestic companies are also taking steps towards more sustainable production and packaging solutions.
