More products advertised in fewer promotional leaflets
GfK Hungária’s Leaflet Monitor data from 2011 indicate that retailers advertise a growing number of products in less and less leaflets: last year 1,144 leaflets were published, while back in 2010 there were 1,208. Mostly discount stores publish these, followed by hypermarkets and supermarkets. The end of the year is the peak season as 27 percent of advertised products appeared in the last quarter of 2011. November was the busiest month, with 24,000 products advertised. In 2011 in the food categories 18,271 ads promoted beverages and 17,151 advertised meat products; dairy products were featured in 9,383 ads. The last quarter of the year brought the dominance of wine in leaflets in both 2010 and 2011. Last year notebook computers made it to the top 19 of products categories advertised in promotional leaflets.
