Unilever to invest €1 billion in new climate fund
Unilever is due to invest €1 billion in a new fund that will support climate-friendly initiatives over the next decade.
Unilever’s aim is to zero out its greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations and those of its suppliers by 2039, 11 years ahead of the Paris Agreement deadline.
The new fund will support a range climate-friendly projects, including reforestation, water preservation and carbon sequestration. In addition, the company plans to eventually label packages with carbon footprints, and will start asking suppliers to declare the carbon footprint of their products.
