A trendy restaurant with a cuisine of previously unknown flavors
Budapest’s gastronomic offer has been expanded with another specialty: Rotigami, the country’s first street food shop offering authentic Sri Lankan roti, has opened on Vas Street.

Laura Metz got to know the local street food culture firsthand in Sri Lanka
With a degree in chemical engineering, international experience and a passion for South Asian cuisine, the founder of the business, Laura Metz, decided to change careers and open her own restaurant. His career did not start in gastronomy: after graduating from BME, he worked in event planning and marketing, and then spent several months as a volunteer in Sri Lanka at the end of 2024. During the trip, he got to know the local street food culture firsthand and learned all the tricks of making the triangular, filled pie from local masters. Upon returning home, he quickly prepared a business plan, found a suitable downtown business location, and formed Rotigami with the help of family and friends.
