Consumer protection authorities closed the same two Chinese restaurants twice in one day
The National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) had to close the same two Chinese restaurants in the capital twice in one day due to serious food safety deficiencies, the authority told MTI on Thursday.
Serious food safety and hygiene problems were discovered in two Chinese fast food restaurants operating on Alkotás Street, so the suspension of the operation of both restaurants was ordered with immediate effect. The operators of the two restaurants ignored the authority’s decision and opened the restaurants that same day, so the NKFH closed the restaurants again and initiated official procedures against the operators.
It was found that the condition of the kitchens was extremely neglected, the windows and doors were rotten, they were open only a crack, because they could no longer be closed due to the thick greasy dirt that had accumulated on them. The restaurants stored the already cooked meat under these.
In the food preparation area, the walls, switches, and the outer and inner surfaces of the refrigerators were covered in a thick layer of grease and dirt. The hygienic conditions in the vegetable preparation room were even worse: raw, sliced chicken breast was stored in a box on the edge of the sink, and the already cleaned potatoes were directly in the water that had soaked on the floor
– they reported.
The conditions of the dishwashing also posed a serious problem: when washing consumer dishes, the wastewater was not drained in a closed system, but the walls of the room were also heavily moldy and dirty, and there was a pervasive sewage smell. There was no disinfectant detergent or hand sanitizer available in any area.
