Food prices decreased significantly in a month
According to the Central Statistical Office (KSH); the monthly average retail price decreased 0.3 percent in August. Compared to the August 2008, the prices increased by 5 percent.
In the first eight months of 2009, an average of 3.8 percent price increase had been occured compared to the same period of 2008. The price of eggs (1.1 percent), sausages (0.8 percent) increased, while the price of sugar (3.8 percent) and cheese (1.1 percent) decreased. In case of household energy (1.9 percent) was the biggest increase. The price of services also increased (0.7 percent), including the 3.3 percent increase of recreational services. In twelve months food prices rose by 3.5 percent, lesser extent to the average.
