H.J. Heinz Co. introduced about 100 new products in the past 12 months

The company plans to add 200 items in the year through April.

The company spent 25 percent more on marketing to promote healthier products
in the U.S. and U.K  but now the company
said it will increase marketing spending behind its key brands by an additional
$100 million over the next two years.The Pittsburgh-based
food producer said it also plans to support product launches with greater
marketing investment.Heinz said it will continue to increase research and
development spending at a double-digit rate.The company also plans an
additional $500 million in share repurchases.Sales increased 9
percent in the quarter, led by ketchup, beans and soup.
