Interest in student workers is extremely high throughout the year

Student work can not only be a good opportunity for young people to gain experience and earn money, but companies can also benefit significantly: in the long term, they can even gain new workforce from the cooperation. Their employment can be a flexible and cost-effective solution for companies, since in addition to their gross salary, only a cooperative fee needs to be paid. This year, there are especially many opportunities for students.

There were almost twice as many open positions in January

The jump before the summer season in the number of job opportunities for students is not yet visible, but it can be observed that companies have been recruiting since the beginning of the year. In the first three months of 2025, many more job opportunities for them than usual were listed on the country’s leading job portal: in January, 43, in February, 16, and in March, companies advertised 34 percent more such positions than in the same months last year.

Based on data from the past year, companies are looking for the most students in the fields of professional work, hospitality, hotel, tourism, and administration and office work. In the case of student jobs, the proportion of advertisements containing salary information is particularly high, with two-thirds of this year’s job advertisements containing relevant data. Examining the net hourly wages indicated in the advertisements, the highest salaries are offered in the IT, programming development (1,897 HUF), IT operation and telecommunications (1,745 HUF), and business support centers (1,743 HUF) categories. Students mostly apply for administrative jobs, followed by skilled work, then physical assistant and apprentice work. In terms of geographical breakdown, the most open positions this year are in Budapest, followed by Pest, Győr-Moson Sopron, Hajdú-Bihar and Fejér counties.
