IKEA’s circular service won the Effekteam and Business Solution Award, the promotion campaign won the Prizma award
In order to support the circular economy and increase customer satisfaction, IKEA launched the free furniture salvage service, in the framework of which it buys back furniture that has become redundant so that it can be given a second chance at the Bútormentő Point. The Second Life of Furniture service increases the life cycle of furniture, reduces waste associated with production, while also helping to ensure that less furniture ends up in landfills. Responsible business practices are recognized not only by IKEA customers but also by professional organizations.
On October 12, 2023, Attila Bálint, IKEA Hungary’s sustainability manager, received a Business Solution Award from the BDCSH (Business Council for Sustainable Development in Hungary – Magyarországi Üzleti Tanács a Sendártátó Fejlődészért), which recognized the Second Life of Furniture service. IKEA received the award barely a week after its sustainability efforts were also rewarded by Effekteam.
The Effekteam ESG Award competition focuses on the three vital pillars of environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. IKEA’s service won first place in the “Green Balance (E)” category. This category is about promoting positive, measurable changes for our planet, and the Second Life of Furniture service earned recognition for its real impact on the ecological environment.
