Dreher prepared messages from fathers for Women’s Day
“What kind of job would you like your daughter to have?” – this is the question Dreher Breweries asked its employees on the occasion of Women’s Day. The company handed over the answers of the fathers of girls to illustrator Barbara Bernát, who, inspired by them, visually displayed the thoughts. Dreher indicated that the dialogue that emerged as a result of the initiative was continued in the long term in internal communication, and the company also shared the illustrations on its social media platforms.
According to the announcement, for years, Dreher has celebrated female colleagues, who make up nearly 40% of the employee community, in line with its corporate culture, in a value-creating way, by strengthening gender-independent dialogue. In this Women’s Day initiative, they first addressed fathers of daughters, and then took the project to a new level by involving a creative artist.
About the background of the initiative, Áron Berkes, HR Director of Dreher Breweries, said: it is natural for the company that several generations of a family work side by side, which is why the question arose of what they could do in the future for those who are most important to them – their children. He added: as male employees, they considered it their daily task to create an environment that they would also wish for their own daughters. According to Dreher, responses came from colleagues from a wide variety of areas and positions; these thoughts were preserved in internal communication, and Barbara Bernát’s images were brought to the public because they were considered to carry relevant messages for a wider audience.
The announcement also mentioned that beer production is often considered a masculine industry by the public, but Dreher had a decades-long tradition of women’s involvement: there were female professionals in the total number of employees, in senior management and among active brewmasters. The company recalled that they also addressed this topic in a three-part short video series in 2023.
Dreher asked Barbara Bernát to the project because of her sensitive, unique style, according to the announcement. The illustrator loves to draw stories, works energetically, with a focus on characters, often using traditional techniques – such as watercolor – or duplicating graphics; He works as a member of the Halisten studio with his fellow illustrators.
