The prices of spa tickets can rise sharply
With the start of the new year, several spas face the challenges of higher water and sewer fees that came into effect on January 1. According to the Pénzcentrum’s news report, these cost increases can mean tens of millions of extra expenses for the spas, which can lead to an increase in the price of admission tickets. According to the general secretary of the Hungarian Bathing Association, the price of daily admission tickets in rural areas may rise significantly, up to 10-15 percent compared to the current prices.
It is already difficult to find a spa in Budapest where the daily entrance fee does not exceed HUF 10,000, and this trend can also be observed in the countryside. According to the Hungarian Water Utilities Association, the reason behind the price increase is that after 12 years it was necessary to raise the prices in order to ensure the appropriate quality of service.
Zoltán Balogh, the general secretary of the Hungarian Bath Association, said that in the case of small and medium-sized spas, they have to account for additional costs of ten million, while in the case of large spas they have to count with additional costs of one hundred million, which they do not know how to finance for the time being. The spas will be forced to compensate for these additional costs, so ticket prices should rise. According to Zoltán Balogh, although they had to carry out significant price increases, they do not reach the level of inflation, and the population would not be able to bear further increases.
