We pay 80 percent more for eggs than at this time last year
In Hungary, we pay 80 percent more for eggs than at this time last year, while in January 2023 the price of eggs in the EU was on average 30% higher than in January 2022. A much more modest price increase was measured in January 2022: then, compared to January 2021, the price in the Union rose by only 7 percent, according to Eurostat data.
In January 2023, the annual increase in egg inflation was the largest:
In the Czech Republic +85% compared to January 2022
+80% in Hungary
Slovakia +79%
The lowest growth was measured in Germany and Luxembourg: +18% in both countries, +19% in Austria.
