PENNY Hungary was awarded twice
PENNY Hungary once again proved its outstanding performance in the domestic trade sector; the company received two prestigious professional awards. At the Retailer of the Year competition, the Trade Magazin Special Award was awarded for the discount chain’s innovative developments and sustainability efforts, while the Hungarian Products Trade Level Award recognized its commitment to domestic food products – for the third time now.
The Retailer of the Year 2024 competition evaluates the performance of the most prominent stores and chains in Hungary. Based on the decision of the professional jury, PENNY received a special award for the renewal of their stores, energy-saving modernization and the enhancement of the customer experience. In our country, more than 230 PENNY stores are already operating in a modern way, in the spirit of efficient energy use and a positive customer experience.
In addition to the above, the jury also took into account during the evaluation that the company also pays special attention to the reduction of food waste. As part of their cooperation with the Munch food rescue platform, tens of thousands of food packages were saved from being thrown away, while PENNY supported families in need with a significant volume of donations together with numerous charitable partners – including the Hungarian Food Bank, the Hungarian Red Cross and the International Children’s Rescue Service.
Furthermore, this year, for the third year in a row, PENNY won the Trade Level Award for Hungarian Products, founded jointly by the Ministry of Agriculture, Magyar Termék Nonprofit Kft. and Trade Magazin. The recognition is given to trade networks that actively support the market access of Hungarian products. The discount chain performed outstandingly in this area as well, as it actively promoted Hungarian producers and domestic branded products among its customers last year as well.
