Food became more expensive
While the purchase prices barely changed in the food industry, the processors are trying to enforce their cost growth in vain, while the more optimistic chains slowly increase their consumer prices.
The price of agricultural raw materials between January and May was 14 percent higher than a year before. However, domestic sales prices of the food industry grew by only 1 percent from December 2012 to June 2013, while consumer prices increased by 3.6 percent. (Braunmüller Lajos, Világgazdaság Online)
