Expensive chip in the sheep
Animals born after 31st of December 2009, should be marked with electronic chip to be identified – states the analysis of the animal husbandry department of the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture.
The European Union has committed Hungary to this, despite asking exempt from this in vain for years. Huge extra costs will come up, in connection with the encroachment. So far, around 100 HUF was spent to a mark in an animal's ear, now it can cost 400-650 HUF, when the purchase prices have already become increasingly depressed before the biggest transporting season.
