Dr Bernd Hallier: Retailers know a lot about their customers
According to Dr Bernd Hallier, the director of EHI Retail Institute retail is one of the driving forces behind information technology. He told Trade magazin that in Central and Eastern Europe the same process was taking place at a faster pace that ccurred slowly in Western Europe in the past 50 years. A new element is that thanks to IT retailers now have much more data at their disposal. In his opinion this will change category management: retailers develop effective systems for this purpose. Manufacturers and retailers will look for ways of improving efficiency together.
