Hypermarkets prevail on the detergent market
Every year HUF 33 billion worth of detergent is sold in Hungary. Last year retail sales were down 3 percent in value and 5 percent in volume, if compared with the year before. Manufacturer brands’ share from value sales was 91 percent (up 1 percent). We buy most of our detergent in hypermarkets: they sold 48 percent of all detergent if measured in value; the 401-2,500m² channel’s share from sales was 24 percent. 55 percent of sales was realised in promotion.
