The SPAR franchise network is expanding dynamically – it now has more than 300 stores nationwide
The SPAR Hungary franchise network continues to grow dynamically. As of June 30, 2025, it already included 313 franchise units, which clearly demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to small businesses and family businesses in the domestic retail market. Eight new franchise stores began operating in the first half of the year. The franchise program offers many advantages: joining partners can connect with a nationally known brand, enjoy the benefits of central marketing support and a reliable logistics background.

We believe that by cooperating with Hungarian retailers, we not only create economic value, but also build human relationships. At the same time, our franchise stores also provide tangible benefits to our customers: they receive the usual SPAR quality, closest to where they live,” emphasized Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary. Of the eight new franchise units opened in the first half of 2025, three joined the system as SPAR markets and five as SPAR partner stores. The expansion took place in various parts of the country: new units were opened in Jánosháza, Keszthely, Győr, Nádudvar, and four locations in Budapest. One of the milestones of this year in the history of the franchise system was the opening of the 310th store, which awaits customers in the 13th district of the capital, at Kassák Lajos út 58–60. In terms of the different store types, the network structure currently includes 95 SPAR markets, 61 SPAR partners, 87 OMV SPAR express and 70 Orlen–DESPAR units. Along with the expansion of the network, the number of employees has also increased significantly: in the first half of the year, 154 new colleagues joined the network, so that currently more than 4 thousand people work in SPAR franchise units.
Wide range, local flavors
The product range of the franchise stores continues to exceed 16,000 items, but partners also have the opportunity to purchase local products, which allows the range to be even more adapted to the needs of customers in the area. The most popular product categories come from the fresh produce sector: meat, vegetables, bakery products, dairy products and delicatessen are all in high demand. In the case of SPAR express units operating at gas stations, the turnover of non-alcoholic beverages is particularly outstanding, but daily consumer goods also play an important role – these units function as mini supermarkets for many customers.
SPAR pays special attention to ensuring that convenience services are also available at franchise partners. Baked goods, the enjoy. product range and the SPAR toGo service – which offers a grill counter and hot kitchen ready meals – are now essential elements of the offer in an increasing number of units.
