Deutsche Bank: we are not responsible for the increase of food prices
In October, the Berlin-based Foodwatch named Deutsche Bank and other financial institutions as partly responsible for the hunger in the poorest countries, because they consider that food price increases are caused by speculation. This statement was prompted Deutsche Bank’s CEO Josef Ackermann to examine the bank's agricultural-commodity business.
Deutsche Bank does not stop the sale of agricultural investment products, because according to the largest German bank, they are not responsible for the price increase of crops. The rising food prices cause hunger in the poorest countries, so the bank's speculation support activities were being partly blamed for it – Bloomberg writes. (portfolio.hu)
