Danish example in Hungary: sustainable food requires a common strategy
NÉGYOSZ’s policy conference “The Place of the Plant Category in the Food Economy” concluded successfully on November 26th at the Europa Pont. The aim of the all-day professional dialogue was to invite the actors of the Hungarian food economy to think together about the future of sustainable food.
The keynote speaker, Marie-Louise Boisen Lendal, founder of the Danish Frej Think Tank and president of the Danish Plant-Based Food Foundation, explained how the world’s first Plant-Based Action Plan was launched. He demonstrated that plant-based developments in Denmark enjoy broad social and political support and how the Danish Plant-Based Food Fund encourages actors in the value chain.
The conference participants – including ministerial experts, food industry organizations and research institutes – were able to learn first-hand about the Danish example, which aroused great interest.
In the program, Réka Szöllősi gave a presentation on the lessons learned from EAT-Lancet 2.0, Giuseppina Luvará on the research and development focuses of the European Commission, Szilvia Magyarvári on the NÉGYOSZ Smart Whitenerje project, and Gábor Tóth on food industry innovations. István Miskolczi, the executive director of NÉGYOSZ, emphasized the role of the organization and the importance of developing the strategy as soon as possible.
NÉGYOSZ aims for the event to serve as a starting point for the creation of a domestic Sustainable Food Strategy and to facilitate the necessary policy cooperation.
