We could produce one million tonne more of vegetables and fruits

The horticulture is the third largest sector of the Hungarian agriculture beside crop and livestock and it remains a primary concern and that Hungary should become a center of horticulture in the region – said Czerván György, State Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, responsible for agri management on Friday in Budapest.

The Secretary of State spoke at the opening ceremony of the 18th Hortus Hungaricus International Horticulture Trade Fair. He said that the value of the sector's primary output is around 350 billion HUF and provides employment for about 340 to 380 thousand families.
According to him; this industry could produce one million tonne more vegetables and fruits, than the present an average of 2.5 million tonnes – reports MTI.
