The producer price of slaughter pigs decreased
According to the Central Statistical Office (KSH), Hungary’s live pig exports decreased by 5.9 percent to 2,900 tons in January 2025 compared to the volume sold on the foreign market in January 2024. Live pig imports decreased by 41 percent to 3,900 tons.

The volume of pork sold on the international market increased by 2.7 percent (13,300 tons), and its value increased by 2.6 percent in the observed period. The volume of pork imports increased by 26.6 percent (10,900 tons), and its value by 26.2 percent in the first month of 2025 compared to the first month of 2024. According to AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of domestically produced slaughter pigs, excluding VAT and transport costs, was 677 forints/kilogram of carcass warm weight in March 2025, a decrease of 21.3 percent compared to the average price a year earlier.
