The average yield of plums and apples also decreased this year

The domestic corn production area in 2025 was 753 thousand hectares, of which 336.3 thousand hectares, 44.7 percent of the total area, had been harvested by October 8. The average yield decreased by 19.8 percent compared to the base year, to around 4.5 tons per hectare. The lowest average yield was achieved by producers in Csongrád-Csanád county (1.4 tons/hectare), the highest in Győr-Moson-Sopron and Zala counties (7.5–7.6 tons/hectare), with significant variation between counties.

92.3 percent of the sunflower sowing area has already been harvested, with a total of 1.5 million tons of sunflower harvested from 657.3 thousand hectares so far. The national average yield decreased compared to the previous year’s level, reaching 2.4 tons/hectare. The lowest average yield was reported from Csongrád-Csanád County (1.5 tons/hectare), and the highest from Vas and Baranya County (3.1–3.2 tons/hectare). Among the autumn-harvested fruits, grapes and plums showed the highest degree of readiness, standing above 92 percent at the time of the report. The average yield of plums was approximately 6.2 tons per hectare, 24 percent less than in 2024. The harvest of the fruit grown in the largest volume, winter apples, stood at 72.9 percent on the day of the report, and the average yield (8.5 tons/hectare) almost halved the previous year’s amount. 8.3 tons of pears were produced per hectare, 8.7 percent more than in 2024.
