Agricultural production declined prices increased
The gross added value of the agricultural sector in 2015 declined by 8.0 percent on the previous year's prices and remained unchanged at current prices. The 3.1 percent drop in volume is compensated by the 3.6 percent rise in prices – the Central Statistical Office (KSH) announced on Thursday on the basis of the preliminary data of the farm bill system.
The price increase mainly affected crop production. Within the product group, price increase was 7.5 percent, while the price level of animals and animal products fell by 1.9 percent.
The volume of crop production output decreased by 8.6 percent, according to the first preliminary data. Maize production fell significantly, by 30 percent due to the unfavorable dry weather and due to the high base of the previous year. (MTI)
