The proportion of non-performing loans in agriculture decreased
In agriculture, the ratio of non-performing loans (NPL rate) decreased in almost all sub-sectors compared to the same period of the previous year. The NPL rate of enterprises active in horticulture decreased the most (by -1.2 percentage points), but still reached the highest value of 5.8 percent at the end of June 2024. The share of non-performing loans in animal husbandry changed minimally, and its value was also high, at 4.3 percent at the end of the examined period. The arable crop production subsector had the most favorable NPL rate of 2.1 percent on June 30, 2024.
Regarding the breakdown of non-performing loans in agriculture by sub-sector, it can be stated that compared to the same period of the previous year, the share of the arable crop sub-sector decreased the most (-4.1 percent), while the share of the livestock sub-sector increased the most (+6.9 percent) .
In the food industry, the NPL rate of medium-sized enterprises was the highest at the end of June 2024, at 12.4 percent
This was followed by the 9.6 percent value of other enterprises, while micro and small enterprises realized a more favorable ratio (the former 4.3 percent, the latter 1.7 percent). Compared to the same period of the previous year, with the exception of large interim fluctuations in medium-sized enterprises, there were no significant changes. At the end of the second quarter of 2024, the share of non-performing loans of the food industry was dominated by other enterprises (81.2 percent). Compared to the same period of the previous year, the share of other enterprises increased by 10.6 percentage points, while the share of medium-sized enterprises decreased by 7.6 percentage points.
