Domestic sunflower seed prices fell at the beginning of the year

According to Expana data, sunflower seeds for immediate delivery were traded in Argentina at a price level of $15 higher, at $440/ton (FOB Buenos Aires) between October 17 and November 14, 2025. In Saint-Nazaire and Bordeaux in France, the export price of the crop increased by $45 each to $641/ton in January-February 2026 (FOB).

At the same time, the spot export price of sunflower seeds in Bulgaria increased by $32 to $652/ton (FOB). In the Netherlands, sunflower seeds were traded for $690/ton (+$25, CIF Amsterdam) in mid-November. In Ukraine, the crop delivered to the western border was available for $520/ton (+$5, DAP). According to the European Commission, the price of sunflower seeds (FOB) in Bordeaux, France, was 718–756 dollars/ton, and in Ukraine 520–525 dollars/ton between December 3, 2025 and January 14, 2026. According to AKI PÁIR data, processors and traders purchased high oleic sunflower seeds (HO) for 210.8 thousand forints/ton (–13 percent), and high oil content (LO) for 169.2 thousand forints/ton (–14 percent) in the second week of January. The producer price of industrial sunflower seeds (including high oleic sunflower seeds) excluding VAT and transport costs was on average 185.1 thousand forints/ton (–14 percent).
