Falling chicken prices
The pig meat price index this year has been in the focus of attention, because VAT on pig carcase meat has been reduced to 5 percent in January.
According to meat market experts, VAT on poultry meat has to follow the changes of the price of pork, otherwise the industry is losing positions.
The recent statistical data seem to confirm their opinion. In Hungary, the producer price of chicken per kilo is 249 HUF 5 percent below in the 9th week of 2016 than in the previous year. (by our colleague)
