Decrease occurred in shopliftings in Hungary
In Hungary in recent years, the damage made by shoplifters was estimated for about an annual 100 billion HUF. The estimated number of shoplifters was around 100 thousand. The stores bought very expensive security systems to reduce the losses, however, failed to achieve significant results.
As the result of a new law amendment, thefts have decreased in the past months. So far, anyone could steal small amounts of products until the former 20 thousand HUF price limit, but this year the world has changed greatly. Whoever commits an offense against property, may be detained. In serious cases up to 45 days imprisonment, or fines of up to 150 thousand HUF await the offenders – reports penzcentrum.hu.
