The sowing area of maize and wheat decreases
Maize and wheat were sown on almost three thousand less hectares of land this year in Tolna County. The sowing area of the autumn wheat fell by nine thousand hectares, which can be explained by the lower wheat prices of last year – agrarszektor.hu wrote.
According to the data of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), the farmers in Tolna are expected to harvest maize on only 82 157 hectares, compared with the 84,938 hectares in 2016. Autumn wheat, instead of the harvested area of 49,393 hectares in 2016 was sown on 40 420 hectares this year, and the area of autumn barley fell from 14,195 hectares to 11,215 hectares.
