Decrease in draft beer consumption in Hungary
The economic crisis affected badly the Hungarian domestic beer industry also. Last year, a more than ten percent decrease occured in turnover.
While, due to the decline in exports, the Hungarian market sales declined by 9 percent, total sales were 12 percent less than in 2008. The decline was bigger in the hospitality industry, than in retail. In the shops, more canned beer was distributed than bottles. Biggest losers were the quality brands, while sales of cheaper products decreased by only 1 percent – reports Szabad Föld Online.
