We buy the most chocolate bunnies and chocolate eggs before Easter, and M-size eggs sell best
Sweets clearly generate the largest turnover in food retail before Easter, according to Tesco’s data. Easter products are already available in the department store chain’s stores at the beginning of March, and although this year’s payment day falls after Easter for many, Tesco customers can take advantage of the various discount options from the beginning of the month.
If it’s Easter, then chocolate bunnies and chocolate eggs – most of these and other Easter sweets sell out in Tesco stores and on the Tesco Otthonrót online interface before the holidays. The meat and dairy products, which are also sought after during this period, are only next in the turnover ranking at the supermarket chain, but compared to the rest of the year, the baskets also contain a higher proportion of soft drinks and spirits.
Based on previous years, Tesco expects increased traffic before the holidays. Although the foods typically consumed at Easter and the spring decor are already available in the selection from the beginning of March, according to experience, customers usually time the purchase of these seasonal products until the last minute.
