The EU authorities seized counterfeit and contraband products
The authorities of the EU Member States seized more than 1 million fake products and 130 million cigarettes under the operation called Replica, with the coordination of the EU’s anti-fraud office – the European Commission announced on Monday.
The action examined the goods arriving by sea. The authorities of the Member States screened hundreds of container. In addition to cigarettes, perfumes, car and bicycle parts, toys, fashion accessories and electronics were blocked by the check. According to the Brussels body merely the selling of the cigarettes would have caused 25 million euros of customs and tax revenue losses. (MTI)
